Tanev expected to miss 4–6 months after undergoing labrum surgery

It looks like the Calgary Flames could be without one of their top defencemen to start the 2022–23 season.

Chris Tanev, who missed four games during the Flames’ 2022 playoff run before returning for Games 4 and 5 against the Edmonton Oilers, confirmed to reporters on Saturday that he’ll undergo surgery to fix a torn labrum.

Tanev, 32, also played with a dislocated shoulder during the series against the Oilers. He’s expected to miss 4–6 months while recovering from his injuries.
